Using the Order Pad on the ThndrX Desktop

A guide to using the Order Pad on the ThndrX desktop to place buy and sell orders.

The Order Pad is part of the Trade panel on the right side of the ThndrX desktop Trade page.

Use the Order Pad to enter and review the details of a Buy or Sell order for the currently selected stock before submitting the order.

Choosing Buy or Sell

The Order Pad has two tabs:

  • Buy — places a buy order for the selected stock

  • Sell — places a sell order for the selected stock

Selecting Buy or Sell determines the direction of the order.

Choosing an Order Type

The Order Type dropdown supports two order types:

  • Market — executes at the best available market price

  • Limit — executes only at the limit price you set or better

📝 Note: Market and Limit orders are also available in the Thndr app. For a detailed explanation of how each order type works, see EGX Stock Order Types.

Entering Shares and Cash

The Shares and Cash fields behave differently depending on the selected order type.

Market orders

For a Market order, enter either:

  • the number of Shares, or

  • the Cash amount you want to invest

The Order Pad automatically calculates the other field.

Limit orders

For a Limit order:

  • enter the number of Shares

  • enter the Limit Price

The Cash field updates automatically to show the estimated cash value based on the number of shares and limit price.

Using the percentage slider

The slider below the Shares and Cash fields lets you choose a percentage of the available amount.

On a Buy order, the slider uses your available buying power. On a Sell order, it uses the available shares you can sell.

Moving the slider automatically updates the Shares and Cash fields.

⚠️ Important: If the order exceeds your available buying power or available shares, the Order Pad displays an error and disables the order submission button until the amount is corrected.

Choosing Time in Force

Time in Force determines how long an order remains active and how the order should be handled if it cannot be executed immediately.

The Order Pad supports:

  • Day

  • GTC — Good Till Cancelled

  • FOK — Fill or Kill

  • IOC — Immediate or Cancel

  • Date

These time in force options are also available in the Thndr app. For a detailed explanation of each option, see EGX Stock Order Types.

Adding Stop Loss or Take Profit

The Order Pad lets you attach:

  • Stop Loss

  • Take Profit

Stop Loss and Take Profit can be added independently, or both can be attached to the same order.

For details on how Stop Loss and Take Profit orders work, including how to set, edit, and cancel them, see the Bracket Orders article.

Reviewing the order summary

The order summary at the bottom of the Order Pad updates as you enter or change order details.

The summary helps you review the order before opening the confirmation screen.

Submitting an order

After entering the order details, click Buy or Sell at the bottom of the Order Pad.

A confirmation screen opens showing the order details, including:

  • Order Type

  • Price

  • Shares

  • Cash

  • Thndr Fees

  • Third Party Fees

  • Total Fees

  • Total Cost

Review the order details, then click Buy or Sell again on the confirmation screen to submit the order.

The order is not submitted until the confirmation step is completed.
